    Vintage NEY Pewter Ingot Britannia Alloy Bar Lead-free
    4 Pounds 4 Ounces Brick Good For Casting
    This ingot and a few just like it were found at an estate sale and I am not an expert regarding these items. From what I have been able to find out online, they are called 'Britannia Alloy' and are supposed to be lead-free pewter (see Belmont Metals website). The triangular company imprint 'NEY' is of interest as it refers to J.M. Ney Company of Bloomfield, Connecticut, a company that originated in 1812. Dimensions are 9-1/4” x 1-3/4" x 1-1/4" and weight is 4 pounds 4 ounces.
    The composition listed by other sellers for this type of ingot is approximately 92% tin, 7.5% Antimony and 0.5% copper, but I have no actual analysis of this ingot to verify this. There is also an incised 'R' on the reverse side as pictured.
