Vintage Eve Kaplin Artisan Colorful Enamel Kinetic 1980s Modernist Pin/Brooch
This is a vintage Eve Kaplin Artisan X Large Colorful Enamel Kinetic Modernist Pin/Brooch that was meant to be “played with.”  Extended to its extreme length, it measures 3.5 inches, yet it is easily manipulated into a smaller measurement of  2.5 inches.
Lightweight and bright, this brooch can become a different design each time you wear it!
From Eve Kaplin’s Facebook page:
“Eve Kaplin attended the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design in the 70s and after graduation was living in a loft in downtown Providence when she started to design jewelry. A few years later, she'd moved to NYC and had a small but growing jewelry business. Her techniques featured wholly unique, whimsical, and unusual means of constructing jewelry. Pieces were made from bright enameled metal with all "cold connections" (no soldering or metalsmithing) using rivets and jump rings.
Her signature collections were called Mechanical and Mobile. These were playful, moveable, architectural type pieces with a sense of fun. Colors were bright and primary.”
Sadly, on a trip to Brazil over the holidays in 1983, Eve fell ill and died on January 1, 1984. She was 28 years old.  Since her death, her jewelry has become treasured collector’s pieces.
