Description
This is a listing for one set (pair of cuffs and waist knits) & a correct match for 1950's to the mid 1960;s model G-1 flight jackets. These particular knits are a seal brown color. As 1950's era type jacket knits they are a slightly lighter weight and have a less bold ribbing weave than the WW-2 type. All correct to fit most G-1 type jackets in both horizontal & vertical dimensions in any size (36-50) USN flight jacket. Basically, these knits offered here are an exact replica for the run of G-1 jackets issued from the early 1950's through the mid 1960's. Correct in both color and design or about as close you you are ever going to get for that specific era jacket. With regards to these particular style knits both the waist knits and cuffs were specifically created for my 1950's USN jacket reproduction builds and restoration projects. Until I had these particular knits made I was unable to find anything that correctly duplicated these particular vintage cuff's look. Now & as a result of having these knits custom made I am now better able to more closely duplicate those originals by using these same knits currently offered here.
Also, plesse see these same knits used for my Reproduction 1951 year model 7823 (AER) G-1. As found here (eBay item# 402519769645). Made available here as a consequence of my desire to correctly duplicate that particular build.
These same knits were special made for me through a minimum order here in the USA & to my specifications. Moreover, not only to match those post War USN type jacket knits specific color but also duplicate those original issue rib rack waist knit configurations. To include the flared type cuffs. All of which initially began & were specifically used with the 1950's 7923 (AER) model G-1 jackets. These same flared cuffs seen with this knit set were typical to most all 1950's through the mid 1960's issued G-1 jackets and a detail missed by most.
More specifically, flared type cuffs are a more conical shape with an more even taper as compared to the bell shaped cuff knits seen used on most WW-2 jackets. More often then not only these same flared type cuffs were seen used with most all post War type 7823 (AER) G-1 jackets. Even then and depending on the maker these same waist knits & flared type cuffs were also utilized up and until the 7823 A, B & C model G-1's that ended in the mid 1960's.
Both of these matching waist knits & cuffs utilize a 100% wool with long fibers. A great quality and as such will not pill, long lasting & something to appreciate. Unlike many other jacket knits in which I had the misfortune to have encountered in the past. Exactly why I specifically use these particular knits for my all of my builds and restoration projects.
Within the descriptive images a medley of original 1950s 7823 (AER) model G-1 jackets from my personal collection are seen. All retain their original knits. To include a Monarch, Cagelco and L.W. Foster 7823 (AER) model G-1 jackets. Seen for comparison purposes & authenticate these same knits being offered here.
The last three images represents a customers mid 1960's G-1 that I did a knit changed out. In this case, done using these exact same set of seal brown colored waist knits and cuffs being offered here. A great example of exactly how these knits will look on your vintage jacket.
Since these seal brown colored knits were supplied to me through a minimum order I now have slightly more knit sets than I will need for the foreseeable future. You are welcome to a set while they last!
