    Description

    You are bidding on a 8 x 10 black and white photograph of HMS Hermes (1898), , the Highflyer  Class Protected Cruiser, which served in the Royal Navy from 1899 till it’s tragic loss in 1914.
    The Hermes, began her life, on April 30, 1987, at the venerable Fairfield shipyards, at Govan. She was launched ,on April 7, 1898, and commissioned into the Royal Navy, on October 5, 1899.
    She was lost in action on October 31, 1914.
    Photograph one is circa 1913 , and shows an overall waterline port beam view.
    Item two is a photo quality 8 x 10 colour statistics sheet showing one of her ships unofficial badges, general 1913 characteristics, callsign, funnel markings, trivia and the ensigns she proudly flew.
