Listed here is a rather rare American fountain pen produced by LeBoeuf. LeBoeuf produced high quality premium pens and is thought to be the first company or one of the first companies to have started using celluloid in fountain pens. LeBoeuf used a proprietary celluloid colors and as such have distinct looks that other Big 5 producers did not pull off. Good Luck!
    C
    AP and BARREL
The cap is in EXCELLENT condition. The cap trim is quite clean. It screws securely onto the barrel.
The barrel is in VERY GOOD condition. There are no barrel imprints. The lever shows the LeBoeuf brand with a bit of wear. The celluloid looks fantastic and I have installed a premium 100% silicone ink sac to preserve that color.
    LEBOEUF #4 14K GOLD NIB
This rare LeBoeuf ringtop fountain pen features its original #4 14K nib.  The nib's imprints are entirely present and well preserved. The nib is firm but with a little bit of give. Not a nail but not really any flex. It writes like a fine or extra-fine and is good for precise writing. The tines are perfectly aligned and the nib is oriented properly on the original ebonite feed. The nib is nice and smooth with optimal flow for vellum paper. I used it on 52 gsm Tomoe River paper with Montblanc JFK Navy Blue ink.
    RESTORATION SERVICES
This antique LeBoeuf fountain pen has been cleaned and tested for function (filling and writing). It is READY TO WRITE upon filling with standard fountain pen ink.
A brand new 100% SILICONE INK SAC
has been properly installed with a dry lubricant in order to preserve the color of the antique celluloid.
    Renaissance Wax
(yes, only the best) has been sparingly applied to the surface to protect and preserve the celluloid
as well as the gold-plated surfaces
. Renaissance Wax is used by professional vintage pen restorers and other esteemed institutions such as the British Museum. It is great for protecting metals from oxidation and for protecting surfaces that often come into contact with hands.
    This
    wax
will not stain or discolor with aging. It is 1
    .
    acid neutral
    ; 2.
    water r
    esistant
    ; and
    3.
alcohol resistant. The Renaissance Wax will preserve the color of the ebonuite and protect from further color loss.
The LeBoeuf #4 gold nib has been
    adjusted for smoothness and flow
    .
Beyond making sure that the pens I restore write, I like to make sure they
write well. Using a loupe, premium micro-abrasives, and when necessary, specially made nib repair tools each nib is carefully adjusted to provide an enjoyable writing experience based on the particular characteristics of the nib.
The LeBoeuf ringtop fountain pen has been fully disassembled, cleaned, and has been conservatively polished.
