Reduced another .I'm gradually liquidating my sizable collection of vintage fountain pens, accumulated in the 1990s.
Today it's a lovely Waterman sterling silver overlay pen from the 1920s with a rare Blue nib -- a nib described in Waterman marketing materials at the time as Blunt or broad. Although the pen is not marked this way, it's clearly a 452 size, and the nib appears to be the proper 2 size.
The nib makes it an exceptional and unusual writer, with a very wide line that can be varied in width depending on how you rotate it in hand. It lays down a generous but not excessive line and has a very buttery feel on paper.
The pen is 5 3/8 inches long when capped.
The overlay is in excellent condition, with light micro-wear on the surface from normal use. It has a few tiny and very shallow dings -- too small for that word, really. Look to the left of the upper end of the clip to see the largest of these small imperfections.
The pen is engraved PLM in unusually handsome Art Deco letters.
The clip is tight and holds the pen securely in the breast pocket of a shirt.
I installed a new sac several years ago, and the pen still takes a nice fill and does not drop ink.
The nib is stamped BLUE in capital letters and says WATERMAN'S / IDEAL / REG. U.S. See photos.
I occasionally used this pen as a daily writer in the office and enjoyed it immensely. I think you will, too.
