    Salvador Vazquez is an expert in the techniques of burnished pottery (barro bruñido) and preparing natural dyes.  He apprenticed under Jorge Wilmot in Tonalá for over 20 years.  Today, he is considered a master among masters and is recognized as the best artisan in Tonalá, even among his peers.  He reproduces traditional forms as well as develops new styles.  Also, one of the Great Masters of Mexican Folk Art, Salvador’s pieces are part of important collections in museums and galleries throughout Mexico and many other countries.  His favorite motifs include St. Santiago Matamoros, suns, moons, flowers and traditional Mexican motifs of eagles devouring snakes, Tastoan dancers and doves
